    Shortcuts

Drag across the wave to select. Drag the brass edges to adjust. Drag inside a selection to move that audio within the track (hold Ctrl to copy it); drag a clip in a track lane to move that clip (Shift+drag moves the whole track); S splits the clip at the playhead or selection edges. Choose Snap in the arrangement toolbar to lock all of these to measures, beats or finer grids; hold Alt to bypass. Click the ruler to move the playhead and keep the selection. Scroll to zoom, shift-scroll to pan. [ and ] set the selection from the playhead.

    MIDI & piano roll

Add a MIDI track, then draw notes in the piano roll: drag to create, drag a note edge to resize, drag the body to move, Delete removes the selection. Pick a Key and Scale to highlight root notes (brass) and scale notes; notes outside the key get a red edge. Maximize (or F) fills the window with the piano roll; Esc restores it. Shift+click adds notes to the selection; Ctrl+X / Ctrl+C cut or copy them, and Ctrl+V pastes at the playhead (snapped to the grid), then moves the playhead past the paste so repeated pastes line up back to back. Notes can be pasted onto another MIDI track. Ctrl+scroll zooms, Shift+scroll pans, scroll moves across pitches. Choose MIDI In/Out devices in the tempo bar; Record MIDI captures live input onto the selected MIDI track. Import and export standard .mid files.

    Track effects & sidechain

Select a track, pick an effect under Track effects and press Add effect; click a slot to edit it. Compressor and Gate can be keyed by another track (Sidechain key) — even a muted one. The compressor's key low/high cut choose which frequencies of the key set the amount, and Compress chooses whether the full signal, one band, or the key filter's band of this track is turned down.

    Drum machine

Add a drum track, then click steps in the sequencer to place hits. Each pad plays a built-in drum voice or an audio sample you load onto it, and the pattern repeats for the chosen loop count. Use ▶ to preview a pad, M/S to mute/solo pads, and the per-pad level/pan. Drums mix, export, and follow tempo alongside audio and MIDI. Export drums saves the track with its pads and samples as a .reeldrums file; Import drums (or dropping the file) adds it back as a new track. Export MIDI writes drums as General MIDI percussion on channel 10, and importing a .mid turns looping channel-10 parts into drum tracks.

    Track presets

A track preset keeps a track's set-up: its instrument and sounds, MIDI effects, built-in effects, level, pan, colour, icon, output and sends. Not its clips, notes, drum hits or automation; plugins are left out. Presets are kept on this computer.

      Sampler

      ms ms % ms %

Each key plays the sample faster or slower (higher or lower) from the root note. Pitch bend, volume and expression lanes apply.

      Tempo map

No changes: one tempo and time signature for the whole song.

Changes start on a bar line. MIDI notes, drums and markers follow the map; audio stays where it is (use Stretch… to fit it). Plugins see the tempo and bar at each point; built-in tempo-synced delays use the starting tempo.

        Stretch

        %
        semitones

        Audio

Smaller buffers lower the delay but need more CPU; raise the buffer if playback crackles. ASIO, then Windows Audio in exclusive or low-latency mode, give the lowest delay. An ASIO driver serves one program at a time.

        Metronome

Takes are lossless and lined up with the transport; known input and output latency is removed automatically, and the latency fix moves takes further if they still land late. Echo cancellation and noise suppression are off.

        Licence

Your key is in your order email and under My Account → Foundry licence. Activating needs the internet once; after that Foundry works offline. For a computer without internet, download the licence file from your account on another device and import it here.

        Templates

A template keeps the tracks, routing, sends, effects, plugins with their settings, instruments and drum kits. Starting from one opens a new, unsaved project.

        Remote control

Run this session from a phone, tablet or another computer on the same network: transport, markers, tempo, the mixer, keys, pads and the drum machine's steps.

The first time, Windows may ask whether Foundry can use the network: allow it on private networks. The remote is not for public networks.

        Markers

M adds a marker at the playhead; , and . jump to the previous and next. On the ruler: click goes there (while playing, when the current snap step ends), double-click adds, Shift+drag moves, right-click deletes. In MIDI Learn, click a marker then press a pad to play it from your controller.
